Mini VSN This Weekend

This was Mini VSN Weekend, and it was a blast! A new challenge was posted each hour, beginning on Saturday at 5:00 pm. Participants had 45 minutes to make their creations. Because I am part of the VSN hostess team, I had an opportunity to play early. Here are a few of my Mini VSN creations.

This challenge from hostess Kim (Nutsymuhl), was to create a card using paper scraps. No shortage of scraps here!

Stamps: Image and sentiment from Hambo Stamps
Paper: Cool Carribean, PTI Vintage Cream, Bazille textured cardstock in olive, Basic Grey Stella Ruby Collection
Ink: Ranger Ink's Walnut Stain, Copics (BOO, YG95)
Accessories: mini brads, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder

Here's my card for "The Understudy" Mini VSN challenge. The challenge was to use lots of layers (at least five) on your card. I happen to love layers, so this was really fun for me!

Stamps: Hullabaloo from Unity Stamps
Paper: PTI Ocean Tides, PTI Vintage Cream, Tangerine Tango, Haiku Collection DSP
Ink: Tangerine Tango
Accessories: mini brads

I made this chipboard frame for my newborn neice, Samantha, and the mini VSN challenge called "Frame Your Star". I'm going to put a magnet on the back and put it on my fridge!

Stamps: None
Paper: Groovy Guava, Certainly Celery, DCWV Baby Girl Collection
Ink: None
Accessories: medium weight chipboard coasters, Nestabilities square and scallop square die cuts, Cuttlebug fancy edge and flower die cuts
Here is my card for the challenge called "All That Jazz". The challenge was to make a card inspired by the 1920's. This was a tough one for me! My fringe is handmade. Ouch! Hehe. I used SC183 for my layout.

Stamps: image and sentiment by The Cat's Pajamas
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Lovely Lilac, Almost Amethyst, PTI Vintage Cream
Ink: Palette Noir Hybrid, Copic Sketch Markers (BV08, B79, B63, BV02, V17)
Accessories: key tag punch, Martha Stewart pearls

This challenge was to make an accordian card. I've never made one of these before, but it was a lot easier than I anticipated.

Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Short and Sweet
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, Haiku DSP, PTI Vintage Cream
Ink: Ranger Ink's Walnut Stain, Old Olive, So Saffron
Accessories: Old Olive mini brads, sheer olive ribbon, Nestabilities square and square scallop die cuts

Roll With the Punches

This week's Friday Fun is brought to you by Sherry. Her fabulous challenge is called "Roll with the Punches", and requires you to use a wheel (jumbo or standard) and at least one punch on your card.

I must admit, I only own one wheel ~ it's the one that came with my Stampin' Up starter kit. I've never used it, so this was a real challenge for me! The polka dots on the wheel inspired me to break out my new dice stamp from RiverCity Rubberworks (also never used).

Stamps: Dice by RiverCity Rubberworks, Hot-to-Dot stamping wheel
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Night of Navy, PTI White, Creative Imaginations DP
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Cuttlebug Olivia alphabet die cuts, photo corner punch

BOO!

Happy Friday!!! This week's Friday Fun Challenge is brought to you by Jimmi (jpmayo), and she has created an awesome sketch challenge for us.

This is the only Halloween card I have made this year, because I don't really know what I'm supposed to do with Halloween cards! And so, despite the fact that this one is destined to find a home in my card box, I had great fun making it. Strangely, it also has no mini brads on it, which may also be a first for me. And from the bottom to the top ~ 12 layers!

Stamps: Hero Arts "Halloween Border", Snap Stamps (alphabet)
Ink: Palette Noir Hybrid, Copic Sketch Marker YR09
Paper: Tangerine Tango, PTI White, s.e.i. Black Orchid Collection, Making Memories Black & Mat Stack
Other: Nestabilities circle and scallop circle die cutsWhite

A Very Special Friday

This week's card is special, as it a birthday card for my good friend Jimmi (jpmayo), who will be celebrating her birthday this weekend! It is also my card for the Our Creative Corner challenge (to use bling/sparkle on your card) AND my Friday Fun Challenge card! But the real reason it is special is because it was made in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

This week's Friday Fun Challenge hostess is Kim (Nutsymuhl). Her challenge is to create a card with the colors pink and white/ ivory & one of the following neutrals (chocolate, black, or kraft). You can check out the challenge details on her blog, here: http://www.kmuhl.blogspot.com/ .

Stamps: Blooming with Happiness, sentiment by MFT (You Take the Cake set)
Paper: Basic Grey (Perhaps Collection), PTI White and Sweet Blush, SU Basic Black

World Cardmaking Day

What a fun weekend this was! I managed to do ALL of the Splitcoaststampers.com World Cardmaking Day challenges in between going to baseball games and laundry. Here are a few:

This was the Limited Supplies challenge. The challenge was to make a card without using either pastel colors or patterned paper. I used SC196 for the layout.

Stamps: A Little Bit of Happiness
Paper: Night of Navy, Kiwi Kiss, Garden Green, PTI White
Ink: Palette Noir Hybrid, Copic Sketch Markers (YG17, YG23+Y06, B99+BV04)
Accessories: Basic Grey mini brads, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder

This card was for the Featured Stamper Challenge, and the featured stamper was our very own SherryLC05!! Here's my CASE of Sherry's beautiful card (http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/949814). Of course, there were too many awesome cards to choose from, but evenutally I settled on this one.

Stamps: Image by Rubber Romance, Sentiment by My Favorite Things (Call Me set)
Paper: Really Rust, More Mustard, Haiku DP, PTI's Vintage Cream
Ink: Ranger's Walnut Stain, Copic Sketch Markers (YR09, YG17, YR24, YR21, 100, E00)
Accessories: Nestabilities square die cuts, small and large oval punches, more mustard mini brads

I made this card for the Sketch Challenge, and I was glad to have an excuse to use my new scarecrow stamp from RubberCity Rubberworks! I'm going to add the sentiment "If I Only Had A Brain" to the bottom.

Stamps: scarecrow from RubberCity Rubberworks
Paper: Basic Grey (Ambrosia Collection), Pumpkin Pie, PTI Vintage Cream and Kraft
Ink: Palette Noir Hybrid, Copic Sketch Markers (E33, YR21, YR14, E44)
Accessories: pumpkin mini brads

Here's my card for the Technique Lovers Challenge, which was to include a "nested flower" on your card. This is my first time making one of these babies, and let me tell you it was fun! I used Julee Tilman's Mojo Monday 34 sketch for my layout.

Stamps: none
Paper: PTI Sweet Blush, Basic Grey (Infuse Collection)
Ink: none
Accessories: distressing tool, Nestabilities circle punches, glitter brad, pink mini brads

This is my card for Ways to Use It Challenge called TREE-mendous. The challenge was to use a tree stamp when making your card. I happen to love tree stamps, so I had a lot to choose from. I used Julee Tilman's Mojo Monday sketch 54 for my layout.

Stamps: Inkadinkado tree stamp
Paper: PTI White, Summer Sun, Not Quite Navy, Bo Bunny Sun Wash Flower, Aquamarine Dot
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Accessories: Nestabilities small circle die cut, SU scallop punch, yellow mini brads.

Thanks to everyone who worked to put these challenges together for us! It was a blast!
