Virtual Stamping Weekend Recap

One of my all-time favorite Splitcoast events is Virtual Stamping Night (Weekend), and this time around was FANtastic!!! The theme was Come to the Cabaret, and there were SO many fun and interesting challenges. And I'm not just sayin' that because I had the privilege of being a challenge hostess again! (lol).

My challenge, entitled Striptease, was to include something on your card that can be removed. The cards created for this challenge were incredibly clever, let me tell ya! Among the entries was a get well card with a Band Aid on it, a Bon Voyage card that included a luggage tag, and an actual Tic Tac Toe game board with little Velcro'd game pieces. Other removable items included, fridge magnets, candy canes, Christmas ornaments, biggie clips, bookmarks, packets of soup mix, coffee....just amazing! Here are some of my VSN creations. The first two are my Striptease cards.

Give Thanks

Today's Friday Fun Challenge is being offered up by my Sassy friend, Sherry. Her idea is to celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving week by creating a thank you card. I don't know about you, but I can never have too many of these on hand! Please join in the Friday Fun by playing along with us, and link your card here so we can enjoy it, too! If you are linking to your SCS gallery, please use challenge code FFC11.

Because this is the final week of my son's Little League Fall Baseball Season, I decided to create a thank you for our team mom, Cyndi. She has helped to make the season loads of fun, and has worked really hard to organize game schedules, practices, uniforms, snacks, etc. In order to show my appreciation, I decided to make her a special thank you Noteables notepad, signed by all the parents and players inside. I hope she will like it and know how thankful we are for HER!

I also want to gratefully acknowledge the designer of the Noteables notepad, JulieHRR! She has generously given permission for me to post a link to her Noteables design instructions/pattern for this fantastic project. I encourage you to check it out and give it a go! I think these babies would make great Christmas and birthday gifts, too!

My Favorite

This is my card for this week's Friday Fun Challenge (FFC9), hosted by my Sassy friend, Kim (Nutsymuhl). This week's challenge is to use your favorite stamp on your card. I couldn't come up with just one favorite, but my American Art Stamps are definitely among my favs. I love stamps that are witty and/or amusing! I even broke out my Prima flowers for this one.

Mini VSN This Weekend

This was Mini VSN Weekend, and it was a blast! A new challenge was posted each hour, beginning on Saturday at 5:00 pm. Participants had 45 minutes to make their creations. Because I am part of the VSN hostess team, I had an opportunity to play early. Here are a few of my Mini VSN creations.

This challenge from hostess Kim (Nutsymuhl), was to create a card using paper scraps. No shortage of scraps here!

Stamps: Image and sentiment from Hambo Stamps
Paper: Cool Carribean, PTI Vintage Cream, Bazille textured cardstock in olive, Basic Grey Stella Ruby Collection
Ink: Ranger Ink's Walnut Stain, Copics (BOO, YG95)
Accessories: mini brads, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder

Here's my card for "The Understudy" Mini VSN challenge. The challenge was to use lots of layers (at least five) on your card. I happen to love layers, so this was really fun for me!

Stamps: Hullabaloo from Unity Stamps
Paper: PTI Ocean Tides, PTI Vintage Cream, Tangerine Tango, Haiku Collection DSP
Ink: Tangerine Tango
Accessories: mini brads

I made this chipboard frame for my newborn neice, Samantha, and the mini VSN challenge called "Frame Your Star". I'm going to put a magnet on the back and put it on my fridge!

Stamps: None
Paper: Groovy Guava, Certainly Celery, DCWV Baby Girl Collection
Ink: None
Accessories: medium weight chipboard coasters, Nestabilities square and scallop square die cuts, Cuttlebug fancy edge and flower die cuts
Here is my card for the challenge called "All That Jazz". The challenge was to make a card inspired by the 1920's. This was a tough one for me! My fringe is handmade. Ouch! Hehe. I used SC183 for my layout.

Stamps: image and sentiment by The Cat's Pajamas
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Lovely Lilac, Almost Amethyst, PTI Vintage Cream
Ink: Palette Noir Hybrid, Copic Sketch Markers (BV08, B79, B63, BV02, V17)
Accessories: key tag punch, Martha Stewart pearls

This challenge was to make an accordian card. I've never made one of these before, but it was a lot easier than I anticipated.

Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Short and Sweet
Paper: Tangerine Tango, Old Olive, Haiku DSP, PTI Vintage Cream
Ink: Ranger Ink's Walnut Stain, Old Olive, So Saffron
Accessories: Old Olive mini brads, sheer olive ribbon, Nestabilities square and square scallop die cuts

Roll With the Punches

This week's Friday Fun is brought to you by Sherry. Her fabulous challenge is called "Roll with the Punches", and requires you to use a wheel (jumbo or standard) and at least one punch on your card.

I must admit, I only own one wheel ~ it's the one that came with my Stampin' Up starter kit. I've never used it, so this was a real challenge for me! The polka dots on the wheel inspired me to break out my new dice stamp from RiverCity Rubberworks (also never used).

Stamps: Dice by RiverCity Rubberworks, Hot-to-Dot stamping wheel
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Night of Navy, PTI White, Creative Imaginations DP
Ink: Night of Navy
Accessories: Cuttlebug Olivia alphabet die cuts, photo corner punch

BOO!

Happy Friday!!! This week's Friday Fun Challenge is brought to you by Jimmi (jpmayo), and she has created an awesome sketch challenge for us.

This is the only Halloween card I have made this year, because I don't really know what I'm supposed to do with Halloween cards! And so, despite the fact that this one is destined to find a home in my card box, I had great fun making it. Strangely, it also has no mini brads on it, which may also be a first for me. And from the bottom to the top ~ 12 layers!

Stamps: Hero Arts "Halloween Border", Snap Stamps (alphabet)
Ink: Palette Noir Hybrid, Copic Sketch Marker YR09
Paper: Tangerine Tango, PTI White, s.e.i. Black Orchid Collection, Making Memories Black & Mat Stack
Other: Nestabilities circle and scallop circle die cutsWhite
